For calendar years 2011 - 2015, Medicare will pay a quarterly 10% incentive of the fee schedule payment amount for select primary care services furnished by medicare enrolled primary care physicians. This bonus program, the Primary Care Incentive Payment program, is through the March 2010 federal health care reform law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).

 

Physicians with a specialty designation of 08 (family practice), 11 (internal medical), 37 (pediatrics), 38 (geriatrics), 50 (nurse practitioner), 89 (certified clinical nurse specialist) or 97 (physician assistant) are qualified. For additional eligibility requirements: http://tinyurl.com/3wme7yb

 

Effective July 1, 2011, this program is amended to include the participation of certain newly enrolled Medicare primary care physicians and non-physician practitioners without a prior two-year claims history to determine eligibility.
